“Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.”
As I have written many times there is no master blueprint that will guarantee that will ensure video content success. There are however a number of things you can do to ensure your video content has a better chance of succeeding.
The first step is to look at other brands that are achieving video content success and see what they are doing right. This is not about copying content more about seeing what is behind their success and if you can learn from it.
I have selected 5 videos that I have enjoyed and that have also been successful brand videos. Have a look at the videos and see if you agree with some of the key takeaway points.
Amazon App – Earth’s Biggest Selection in Your Pocket
This simple explainer video proves you can capture the imagination of an audience with a simple 15-second video. It needs so frills just a simple this is what the app does and this is why you need it.
Think about the message you are trying to share with your video audience.
The Double Stack in the Wendy’s 4 for $4 and two monkeys hanging out in trees talking about it
Normally I hate brand videos that are just advertisements, but this one has such an original spin on sharing facts it leaves me smiling.
Humor used well will entertain and sometimes allows you to advertise.
Quaker® | “The Note”
This video works because it tells a story that we are familiar with. Who has not as a child passed a note and the twist in this case affirms how we like to feel good about ourselves.
Keep the logo and branding to the end of the video and make sure it ties in with the video.
Android: Friends Furever
An amusing jingle with cute pictures of animal friends is hard to beat. It tugs at most people’s emotional heartstrings.
Find your audiences emotional sweet spot and create content that gets an emotional response.
Best Day Of My Life | Shell #makethefuture
Catchy entertaining video that is a highly stylized mixture of contemporary musicians and videos of new energy concepts being developed by the next generation of young people.
Think outside the box, this is not an obvious choice using popular musicians to highlight Shells collaboration with a new generation of young entrepreneurs.
Video Marketing Is A Continuous Learning Experience
“I am always ready to learn although I do not always like being taught.”
The key to achieving video success is to learn from others “mistakes”. Be equally critical about what they did wrong and what they did right and learn from both. Video production is more of a marathon than a sprint and as such you should be prepared to fail and fail often before you perfect your video marketing.
